Uplift Your Spirits

The Alpine Border and Rock Garden provide many of the smaller spring bulbs with the extra attention they truly deserve but do not always receive. Miniature bulbs tend to need far less care than many other alpine plants, and if left undisturbed will naturalise freely.

Snowdrops and aconites carpet the ground in winter as do the scillas, winter flowering crocus, cyclamen and dwarf iris.

Particularly rewarding are the smallest of the miniature daffodils and species tulips. Chionodoxas, with their brilliant blue enamel colouring planted with daffodils provide truly exquisite contrast.

For brilliant colour the tulip species stand supreme. By careful selection they can bloom from February (humillis Violet Queen, the crocus tulip) through to May with the hageri species.

The abundance of smaller and shorter bulbs in our catalogue and on our web-site are all sure to add interest and comment to your spring garden.
